Alert Cascade’s mass notification service announced as Business Continuity European Awards 2017 finalist

ALERT CASCADE’S MASS NOTIFICATION SERVICE ANNOUNCED AS BUSINESS CONTINUITY INSTITUTE EUROPEAN AWARDS 2017 FINALIST

LONDON, GB 25/04/17 12:00 GMT: Following hot on the heels of being shortlisted for Most Innovative Product of the Year in the 2017 Business Continuity Awards hosted by CIR magazine, the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) announced today that Alert Cascade is also a finalist in the BCI European Awards.

A panel of expert judges, comprised of senior business continuity professionals, assessed the nominations and shortlisted Alert Cascade in recognition of their provision of a first class service backed up with excellent customer feedback and support. David West CBCI, Head of Communities at the BCI comments: “This in itself is an excellent endorsement of Alert Cascade’s achievements as we’ve had our highest ever response this year.”

Alert Cascade’s cross sector customer base spans the UK and Europe and customers have been quick to highlight the contribution that Alert Cascade’s mass notification service makes to their own continuity and resilience, and that of the surrounding community.

Briar Chemicals Limited comments: “The development work carried out over the last 18 months has simplified our resilience processes, and provided features not available from other vendors.”, whilst the YBS Group comments: “The unique enhancements included in the latest version bring some significant benefits to our own business continuity processes.”

As one of only a few remaining non US owned emergency notification providers, Alert Cascade is uniquely placed to understand the needs of their UK and European customers, with the senior management team all benefiting from experience in an operational or emergency planning environment prior to moving into the mass communication arena. This real life experience helps to shape both the outstanding service and the excellent support that Alert Cascade provides to it’s customers.

Russell Pearson, Director of Alert Cascade Limited comments: “The technical delivery of a mass communication service can be a challenge in and of itself; with differing telephony routing, local regulations and internal Information Security policies to contend with, we work hard to ensure that our platform meets all of our customer’s needs, not just a select few. More importantly though, our team have all had experience of being the one to “push the button” in an emergency. We have an unparalleled level of insight into the customer experience, and this directly impacts the decisions that we make about our platform and the way that we support our customers.”

The BCI European Awards 2017 recognise the outstanding contributions of business continuity, risk and resilience professionals and organisations living or operating within the European region. Winners will be announced at the annual BCI European Awards Gala Dinner on 11th May, at the prestigious Principal Hotel, Edinburgh.

Alert Cascade’s emergency mass notification service announced as business continuity awards finalist

ALERT CASCADE’S MASS NOTIFICATION SERVICE ANNOUNCED AS A BUSINESS CONTINUITY AWARDS FINALIST IN “MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT OF THE YEAR” CATEGORY

LONDON, GB 27/03/17 20:00 GMT: Alert Cascade’s flagship mass notification service has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2017 Business Continuity Awards, hosted by CIR magazine. As one of only a handful of 100% UK owned and operated emergency notification providers, Alert Cascade has spent the last 18 months developing a new customer led interface, packed with new customer led features that work flexibly around the individual operating environments of different organisations.

Customers have been quick to praise the development work done, and to recognise the benefits it brings for them, with a leading global accountancy and business advisory firm commenting: “The Alert Cascade platform has continued to evolve, with the latest release providing a range of new features which have allowed us to streamline some of our existing processes. System administrators and team co-ordinators have mobile platform access via their web browsers eliminating the need for installing dedicated applications that would typically require multi-layered internal authorisation. Alert Cascade’s innovative new features and continued development of their MNS platform ensure that our focus remains on communication during business critical events”.

Russell Pearson, Director of Alert Cascade Limited, comments: “Our philosophy has always been to deliver a platform that is based on what customers actually need in order to communicate easily and effectively during a business disruption. All mass communication solutions can deliver a two way voice call, email or SMS text message with a basic import and reports function; we’re unique in the level of customer led development work that we have carried out, and the decision that we made to implement a web application user interface based on our market research, rather than develop a traditional app that relies on a third party operating system. We really took the time to get to know the pain points for our customers, and to find ways to ease them. Not all of the feedback we received was about technical functionality – for many customers, it was as much about how to integrate a mass communication service with existing data gathering processes or operational procedures. Customers can now build their service to suite their won internal processes, removing one of the major stumbling blocks for implementing new emergency communication technology.”

Now in their 19th year, the Business Continuity Awards are judged by an independent panel, and focus on innovative strategies within the business continuity, security, resilient and risk arena. Winners will be announced at the Business Continuity Awards Gala Dinner and Ceremony on 8th June 2017 at the prestigious London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.

Alert Cascade partners with Cereproc to produce the first mass notification service with UK Text to Speech (TTS) voices and regional accents

LONDON, GB, 29/11/16 09:30 GMT: As one of the few remaining UK owned and operated mass notification companies, Alert Cascade‘s latest platform release builds on the UK theme by including regional TTS voices designed and engineered by specialists based in Edinburgh.

Traditionally, UK TTS has been centred around Received Pronunciation (RP), but recent estimates show that only around 2% of the UK population actually use RP, with the figure being even lower in Northern Ireland and Scotland. With research showing that it is easier for listeners to process information when it is presented in the same accent they use, Alert Cascade’s new release features regionally accented TTS voices for the first time.

Mass notification services are often used to provide vital information and instructions in difficult situations; Russell Pearson, Director of Alert Cascade Limitedcomments: “Our platforms are used for everything from letting parents know that schools are closed to warning and informing members of the public in the event of an incident at a petrochemical or nuclear site. Whilst there are some good “Queen’s English” voices on the market, we felt that it was important to use voices that more accurately represent the people we’re communicating with, and which make it easier for vital information to be clearly understood. The last thing we want during an emergency situation is people misunderstanding the message; our new partnership with CereProc has been exceptionally well received by customers and really does add another dimension to our voice messages.”

Paul Welham, CEO of CereProc comments: “At CereProc, we’ve always wanted to push the boundaries of TTS and develop voices that not only communicated the message clearly but also delighted the user (rather than annoy them, which was often the case with standard TTS voices in the past). That’s why we’ve focused on creating a wide range of voices with regional accents that sound real and have character! We’re delighted to see that companies, like Alert Cascade, really listen to what their customers want and understand that audio is a crucial part of their identity”.

Changes to emergency arrangements at Sellafield

Sellafield Ltd and Cumbria County Council have been working with their mass notification provider, Alert Cascade Ltd, to implement changes to emergency planning arrangements in the vicinity of the Sellafield site.

Following the introduction of the revised Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations in June 2105, there are now new and revised site level emergency arrangements in force from 1st December 2015, including changes to the Detailed Emergency Planning Zone meaning some residents fall within the zone for the first time. Alert Cascade have supported Sellafield with their emergency planning arrangements for over ten years, and have continued their close working relationship with both Sellafield Ltd and Cumbria County Council’s Resilience Unit during this process.

In November, information packs were issued to local residents, outlining the changes and giving people the opportunity to register to receive automated SMS text, email and telephone warnings from Sellafield. By the end of November, over 1000 householders had registered to receive Alert Cascade messages, giving a sign-up rate of 30%.
