Dragon LNG implement Alert Cascade solution

Dragon LNG is the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal at Waterston, Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire. Importing and supplying 6 billion cubic metres of gas per annum to the UK’s National Transmission System (NTS), Dragon LNG plays an intrinsic role in supporting the UK’s energy infrastructure.

Due to its size and the nature of activities conducted by Dragon LNG, the site is classified as a “top-tier” COMAH site (Control of major accident hazards) and, under these regulations, is required to keep local residents and businesses informed of any incidents which may affect them. Dragon LNG has a very close relationship with the local community, and having a user friendly alert service as well as information lines relaying key information to those with a need to know was very important to them. We’re delighted to announce that Dragon LNG have chosen to implement Alert Cascade emergency notification system to keep in touch with their staff and the local community.

The Requirements

Onsite: Dragon LNG had been using Trango as their our First Alert call out system but the company failed in June 2012, leaving them with a need to quickly source another supplier/solution. The new solution needed to be a system that was easy to use, cost effective and could be self managed from the site.

Offsite: Dragon LNG needed a method to alert the public within their Public Information Zone (PIZ), as their site borders a local village. There was also a requirement for Dragon LNG to be able to quickly redirect a large number of incoming calls from relatives, the media or local residents during an incident.

The Solution

Captain Garland, Marine Superintendent at the Milford Haven site, comments “We chose Alert Cascade because I had received reports that it was easy to news and had the call redirect facility which we also required, and which wasn’t available in our previous system. I also found Alert Cascade a very cost effective solution. A major factor in choosing Alert Cascade was the facility of being able to call someone 24/7 to be able to initiate alert calls in case our terminal operating staff did not have time to initiate a call due to the emergency they were dealing with. ”

Over 200 clients worldwide use Alert Cascade to protect their business, including Nissan, Siemens, Bosch, Aviva, Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service, and City of London Safer City Partnership.
